SATA PRESIDENT
SATA President Recruitment (June 8, 2010)
The SATA Board of Directors is seeking a suitable candidate for the position of President. The role requires a self-starter, someone who can set their own goals, delegate and prioritize, has an entrepreneurial spirit, and works to build and improve the organization and Saskatchewan's Advanced Technology Sectors.
The President will collaborate with a team of staff and contractors to further the goals and mandate of SATA. This is an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to gain visibility and exposure to senior levels of Government and the Advanced Technology Industry; and get experience working with a Board of Directors.
Responsibilities of the Executive Director:
- Develop, implement and maintain a SATA operating strategy, including associated milestones to measure progress, that addresses key requirements, work relationships, responsibilities and priorities. The President will work directly with the Board and the SATA projects manager to develop and communicate the operating strategy.
- Lead the development the action plan from the industry strategic plan (based on work completed to date) to grow the industry in the province.
- Be an advocate for the advanced technology industry and work with all levels of government as well as quasi-government organizations to build and promote the infrastructure needed to grow the technology industry. Lead SATA advocacy and promotion efforts with provincial and national regulatory and legislative bodies; and serve as a visible leader and voice of organization.
- Overall organizational, fiscal and program management for the association as directed by the Board of Directors.
- Member recruitment and communications with steady, growth in revenues and sustainability.
- Foster mutually beneficial relationships with organizations that have similar or complementary mandates and goals from within and outside the province, including but not limited to SEIMA, AgWest Bio, Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce, etc.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key federal and provincial agencies.
Terms of Engagement:
- The SATA Board has decided to fill the President position on a contract basis initially for a 6 month term (September 2010–February 2011). The contract may be extended after the initial term based on the progress made in achieving SATA objectives as outlined above.
- Although the Board anticipates this is a full time position, the candidate will be free to manage their time accordingly as long as the objectives outlined above are being achieved. The candidate must be flexible.
- There will be some travel required and the President should plan to be in Saskatoon and Regina ideally at least two times in a month. Travel and accommodation expense will be reimbursed. Again the candidate must be flexible.
- Fees to be paid to the President will be $5,000 per month plus taxes. An invoice must be sent to SATA monthly.
